There may be something deeper to it, though! I'm strangely reminded of Moloch The Corrupter from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. To put it simply, he was on borrowed time from the moment he started screwing around with the artifact. To them, the act of driving humans mad and cause them to give in to their most darkest thoughts is like watching TV or hopping on a video game, pure entertainment, but with the added bonus of having ownership of the person's soul, torturing them for all eternity! Isn't that just so much fun?!įor example, in Victor's last letter, he admits to become just like his father: a failed man who killed believing he was 'protecting' his family through murder, feeding souls to Them. I think that the goal of 'Them' is to slowly, bit by bit, drive someone to madness and murder. Though I do imagine she gets bored of them after a time! If we examine the Artist for a bit, her personality, dialogue, mannerisms, artwork of Lily.we see that she personally enjoys making her targets freshly relive their most horrifyingly traumatic events, whether it be a violent assault, domestic violence, a near death experience, a loved one dying right in front of them, being humiliated/bullied.The Artist knows how to manipulate those she picks for her gallery by crushing their sanity and ultimately letting the dolls or whatever creature do the dirty work, then the victim is apart of her gallery.forever giving her the inspiration for her next paintings. Of course, until Amber stumbles along her mutilated corpse!ģ.) I think the ultimate goal is a little bit more far-fetched than that. She just dies over and over and gets revived over and over, it's all really a matter of when. Fair warning, this is a bit of a mess because I went with the questions I thought I could definitely answer first! I hope you enjoy my take on things! (Keep in mind that 3 through 5 is all just speculation and nothing confirmed by the developer!)ġ.) Through a convo with the dev, I learned that Lily dolls are pieces of people that came before Lily, basically unlucky people who died in that realm, but now since the Artist has set her sights on Lily, she must think it's better to have the real thing rather than a replica.Ģ.) Through a convo with the dev, I learned that the Artist revives the Vestigial Princess over and over, it isn't the Princess' first rodeo. Okay, so what I've been able to learn/speculate is this. On another quick theory, is the artifact the reason she can see enemies and traps with focus? So I have a theory that Lily might be revived in some way by the part 2 antagonists if she happens to die (it might also be due to the relics influence though I don't think that is the case), since:ġ-A lot of the Artist's works seem to be inspired by some of Lily's gruesome fates, her being impaled, decapitated, all of which bear an uncanny resemblance to some of her game overs.Ģ-The skin mannequins on the same part are also similar to what becomes of her if the artist comes in possession of her body in some of the deaths, are they potentially dead Lily's from other attempts?ģ-One of the early deaths has her body disappear when she is hanged from a chain, might this be also a hint? The early mannequin's enemy also seems to want to replace her in some way with the way it says "it wants her skin" and how it uses her decapitated head to gain a form.Ĥ-About The Scavengers, is the implication from that death that they are born from a womb or that they are born specifically from Lily? If it is the latter there would be no way for her to both canonically survive and birth them into existence in the same timeline if she weren't resurrected in some way.ĥ-If their ultimate goal was to torment her father with Lily's suffering and recover the relic it probably wouldn't be a wise plan if she just died and that was the end of it, what would they gain from the artifact being destroyed (considering how it never appears on the death scenes I'm assuming that is the case)?Ħ-The Artist outright says in Vestigial Princess that she is reviving the main character when you die in that game. So sadly I wasn't able to play the game by myself due to controller problems, but I have bought it and watched everything on youtube, and I'm going through Vestigial Princess now, but something is on my mind in regards to the implications of Lily's deaths.
